The Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in Staplehurst in 1888, a sister congregation to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church which had been founded in nearby Marysville in 1870. They affiliated with the Missouri Synod. The Immanuel Church building was constructed in 1905. In 1966 the Zion and Immanuel congregations merged to form Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Staplehurst which meets primarily in the old Immanuel Church building.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one reel of microfilm containing six volumes of records of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Staplehurst, Nebraska. The records are arranged in two series: 1) Church record, 1889-1966; and 2) Minutes, 1896-1966. The first series contains the record of members, baptisms, marriages, and confirmations from 1889 to 1966. The second series contains minutes of meetings from 1896-1966. They are written in the German language until 1939.
