SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of six letters written by Alice Snow Froman of Seward County, Nebraska, in 1878 and 1882. The letters are written to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.V. Snow of Chester, Massachusetts. In the letters, Froman describes setting up housekeeping in Nebraska; personal finances including information regarding rent, and purchases of food, farm animals and furniture; her religious life; and farming practices. Froman often compares her life to that in the East where she was raised.
