Size: 2 itemsDESCRIPTION
The collection consists of two letters written from Stockville, Nebraska to a George J. Kelly in Philadelphia (Illinois?). The first letter, five pages long and dated 1890, is from E.W. Larsen at the Stockville Bank in Stockville, Nebraska. It deals with various financial disputes, especially pertaining to cattle. The second letter, three pages in length and written in 1891, is from Cal Biggs at the Frontier County Abstract Office (also in Stockville), who identifies himself as George's brother (it is unclear if this is meant in a familial or fraternal sense). The letter deals with financial land transactions, and seems to discuss some fraudulent activities. The letterhead shows that George Kelly was the vice president of the Stockville Bank and a proprietor of the Frontier County Abstract Office.
