SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of correspondence to, and an account book of, Irene F. Usher dating from ca. 1890-1900. A resident of Rhode Island and then New York, Usher invested in land in Nebraska, Kansas and South Dakota. The correspondence is from the investment banking company of Burnham, Trevett & Mattis of Champaign, Illinois, Beatrice, Nebraska, and Huron, South Dakota, and discusses various loans and investments in land in Greeley, Harlan, and Custer Counties in Nebraska. The account book records payments received on various loans through Burnham, Trevett & Mattis.
