SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of eight letters sent to John J. Haden while he was stationed at Fort Robinson in 1888. Several letters come from Haden family members living in Texas. Other letters come from colleagues and friends in the military. Several letters discuss military life at Fort Robinson and Fort Niobrara. The collection also contains a small about of genealogical information found through various sources. Born in Missouri in 1853, John J. Haden died on January 3, 1903 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
