Laurin W. Hespe, a native of Leigh, Nebraska, served with the 1st Platoon, Company A, 410th Infantry, 103rd Infantry Division. The 103rd Infantry Division was assembled for embarkation overseas at Camp Shanks, New York. It arrived at Marseilles, France on October 20, 1944 and reached the front on November 9th. Hespe's platoon fought its way through Nouvllers and Fouchy, France and across the Rhine into Germany and Austria.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one volume of manuscript material designated as one series: 1) Reminiscence, undated. This collection relates to the activities of Company A, 410th Infantry, 103rd Infantry Division, as recorded by Laurin Hespe, a native of Leigh, Nebraska who became a company platoon sergeant. Hespe's reminiscence, a typescript, is written in diary entry format and describes his unit's movements from October 6, 1944-September 2, 1945. A map showing the route of the 103rd Infantry and a roster of the 1st Platoon, Company A, are also included.
