This manuscript is the copy of a journal kept by Mordecai T. Bartram while on a buffalo hunt in June of 1871. The white hunters accompanied a large number of Indians to an area south of the Republican River in Franklin and Harlan Counties, Nebraska, and in Northern Kansas. Here they were joined by a party of soldiers and killed a large number of buffalo. The material consists of two typed copies of a diary, published in Nebraska History Magazine, Volume 35, No. 3, September 1954, pages 193-222.
