SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of three folders of manuscript material arranged in three series: 1) Records of the Douglas County Rivers and Streams Survey Committee, 1960-1961; 2) Elkhorn-Platte Valley Preservation Association material, 1969; and 3) Waterloo Dike Committee Material, 1965. The bulk of this collection relates to flood control in the Elkhorn and Platte River Valleys and to efforts to prevent the construction of a dam on the Platte River near Ashland, Nebraska. Much of the material was compiled by Ralph Wilson of Waterloo, Nebraska, who was active in the promotion of flood control in the Elkhorn Valley and who led the opposition to the Platte River Dam in 1969.
