SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection contains miscellaneous legal documents and correspondence (1850-1903) pertaining to clients of William McLennan, a lawyer from Nebraska City, Nebraska. Some of the documents include land warrants, terms of judgements, tax documents, etc. The collection also includes a discharge paper for William C. Johnson (Nebraska City) from the Civil War; and a document from Illinois (1859) asking for help in arresting Richard Brown who fled to Nebraska after committing larceny. Several documents concern legal matters of McLennan himself, including a bill from Dr. M.A. Carriker (Nebraska City); tax receipts; land purchases; and a railway accident insurance policy for McLennan's son, W.E. McLennan. There is also a set of letters (1901-1903) between McLennan and W.E. Mitchell (Fremont County, Iowa) concerning the damages and repairs of the Gibson-Keyser road.
