Chartered in 1918 as the Nebraska Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the purpose of the organization was to "promote the objects and ideals of the American Institute of Architects in Nebraska, unite its members in fellowship, and to combine their efforts so as to promote the aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession, and to make the profession of ever-increasing service to society."* Although it was known by other names over the years including the Nebraska Architects Association, and now AIA Nebraska, this organization has remained the largest and most influential professional association for architects in the state of Nebraska.
