The first meeting of the Davey Womanís Club was held on November 9, 1922. According to the clubís constitution, the object of the club was ěto develop a unified community spirit; to study the County Projects issued by the University Extension service as to further interest the home culturally, morally and physically.î The regular meetings of the club were held on the third Tuesday of each month from September to May, and the annual dues were fifty cents. Some of the University Extension topics discussed by the club included, ěPosture in Housework,î ěHome Lighting,î ěHoliday Entertaining,î ěHome Improvements,î and ěFamily Economics.î The club disbanded in November of 2006.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of the records of the Davey Womanís Club (Davey, Neb.), including the clubís constitution and minutes of meetings dating from 1922 to 2006. Also included is a loose-leaf scrapbook containing membership materials, minutes of meetings, event programs, newspaper clippings, and a few photographs of members and events.
