The Fort Robinson Association was incorporated in Crawford, Nebraska in 1965 in order to market and promote the development of Fort Robinson State Park. According to the Association's articles of incorporation, the main purposes or responsibilities of the association were:
- To assist in the preservation and perpetuation of scientific, educational, historical, recreational, and interpretive activities of the governing body of Fort Robinson.
- To handle, buy and sell such Government and private publications, illustrative materials, goods and merchandise as may be approved by the governing body.
- To assist in the preservation of buildings, objects or documents important to the Fort Robinson State Park and the history of Fort Robinson, and to assist in the gathering and preservation of objects and information pertaining thereto.
- To exercise the powers conferred by the Nebraska Nonprofit Corporation Act.
The board of directors consisted of eleven people including, Rev. Robert O'Neill of Harrison (President), Gene Kemper of Alliance (1st Vice President), Lloyd Pipher of Crawford (2nd Vice President), and Dan Fisher of Crawford (Secretary). The Association raised money by selling memberships: two dollars for individuals, five dollars for businesses, and one hundred dollars for a lifetime membership.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing articles of incorporation, minutes of meetings (incomplete), correspondence, a few membership forms and financial documents, and newspaper clippings. These materials relate to the activities of the Fort Robinson Association and date from around 1965 to 1969.
