Guadalupe Vasquez

Guadalupe Vasquez

Working in a shop in his basement, Guadalupe Vasquez carries on the Mexican tradition of leathercraft. He was born in Tampico, Mexico, in 1919 and was a tailor there for nearly two decades before coming to the United States in 1953. A friend shared with him the "secretos" of the leather trade, which allowed him to combine his skills with the needle with those he learned in his twenty-five-year career in the packing industry.
