Position Title: Collections Assistant

Supervisor: Laura Mooney / Deb ArenzDuties / Responsibilities: Intern will be numbering, cataloging, housing, researching, completing condition reports, and taking digital images of and doing superficial cleaning on artifacts under the care of the Museum Collections Department. Intern will also be required to complete data-entry in Past Perfect museum software.
Qualifications:
Required: Must have completed college level coursework in Museum Studies, history, or related field and be pursuing a career in the museum field.
Desired: Prior experience working in a museum collections department; graduate level coursework in collections care, familiarity with Past Perfect museum software.
Hours per week: Minimum 10, Maximum 28
Days preferred: M-F, 9am-4:30pmSemesters Available: Spring, Fall
Number of interns per semester: 2
What can the student expect to learn from the internship? Care and management of museum collections, research skills in a museum setting, Past Perfect collections management software.
What special equipment will be available to the intern? Access to and use of collections lab and materials and equipment found within, computer, digital camera.
What type of training will be provided by the Society? Training to use Past Perfect computer software, museum collections care and management techniques.
Compensation: Unpaid
