Nebraska State Highway Covered Wagon Symbol
Nebraska's state highway symbol began with a linoleum block or wood cut print similar to this and has evolved into the covered wagon image familiar to Nebraskans today. The covered wagon state highway marker has been used by Nebraska since 1926 and was designed by Robert L. "Roy" Cochran, who served as Nebraska's state engineer (1923-34, 1959) and as governor (1935-41).
